BPC Action Launches Congress of Tomorrow Website, Push for Congressional Reform in Government Reform

Washington, D.C. – BPC Action today announces the formal launch of the new Congress of Tomorrow website. The interactive platform, which builds on the bipartisan efforts of Reps. Darin LaHood (R-IL) and Dan Lipinski (D-IL) to create a Joint Committee on the Organization of Congress, aims to inform the public on critical reforms to Congress and drive advocacy for improving the functionality of the legislative branch.

Notably, the website calls on citizens to urge their U.S. representatives and senators to champion the creation of a Joint Committee on the Organization of Congress.

“Citizens depend on their representatives to be their voice in Congress, however, fulfilling this responsibility is difficult with the growing partisan divide. Data from Bipartisan Policy Center’s latest Healthy Congress Index found that the House considered no legislation under rules allowing for fully open debate and amendment during 2017. It is clear that we have reached a tipping point when congressional reforms have become necessary,” said BPC Action Executive Director Michele Stockwell.

“I am excited to support the bipartisan work of current and former members, endorsed by a host of organizations committed to reforming Congress for the better.”
